Ett problem som förekommer på vissa datorer som har Windows Vista eller Windows 7 är att de inte kan spela upp ljudfilerna på den här webben. Här nedan ska jag försöka vägleda dig så att detta problem avhjälps, men först måste jag förklara orsaken till problemet.

På den här webben är samtliga ljudfiler åtföljda av en instruktionsfil med ändelsen *.m3u. Den har liknande namn som ljudfilen. Om vi tar ett exempel här:

.....så har m3u-filen nästan samma namn som ljudfilen:
http://radiohistoria.jvnf.org/en/l/Lxmbg_19630000.mp2
Men m3u-filen innehåller inga ljuddata - den har bara ett textinnehåll som anger adressen till ljudfilen. Den pekar alltså vidare, ungefär som en vägvisare, till ljudfilen. Fördelen med det är att ljudfilen börjar spela snabbare än den annars skulle göra. Många av ljudfilerna på min webb är timslånga, i en del fall flera timmar långa, och väntetiden, innan ljudet går igång, skulle bli väldigt lång - om inte m3u-filen fanns..

Nu ska vi försöka avhjälpa problemet. Först måste du ladda hem ett exemplar av m3u-filen så att du har den liggande temporärt i din dator. Vi kan ta vilken m3u-fil som helst, till exempel den som beskrevs nyss:

om du klickar (en gång) med höger musknapp på länken så ska du få fram en meny, där en av raderna säger "Spara mål som...". Välj för enkelhets skull att spara på skrivbordet. När du sparar den så går det blixtsnabbt för det här är en väldigt liten fil.

Kolla sedan på skrivbordet så att filen finns där. Gör då så här - lägg musmarkören på ikonen för m3u-filen och klicka på höger musknapp (en gång). Då öppnas en meny. Där väljer du alternativet "Öppna med" och fortsätter sedan nedåt till "Välj standardprogram" enligt bilden nedan:

Där ska du hamna på nedanstående funktion (se bilden nedan), där du väljer Windows media player. Innan du klickar på OK-knappen ska du också klicka i en bock i fönstret "Använd alltid detta program för att öppna den här filtypen". Efter det här ska datorn "förstå" hur den ska göra med m3u-filer, och därmed ska du kunna lyssna på filer på min webb. Och m3u-filen som du har på skrivbordet kan du nu kasta.

A problem that may occur on some computers with Windows Vista or Windows 7 is that they refuse to play the audio files on this web. On the lines below I will try to guide you so that this problem is cured, but first I must explain the cause to the problem.

On this web all audio files are accompanied by an additional file with the extension *. m3u. It has identical name as each audio file. If we take an example:

The m3u file contains no audio data; it only holds the address to the audio file and works as a signpost to the audio file. This is to make the audio file start playing much faster than it otherwise would. Many of the audio files on my web are hour-long, in some cases several hours long. That would cause the delay time to be very long before the sound file would start playing - if it wasn't for the good that the m3u-files do.

Now we'll try to correct the problem. The first you need to do is to download a copy of the m3u file so that you will have it temporarily stored in your computer. We can take the m3u file described earlier:

Click (once) with the right mouse button on this link. Then you'll see a menu appear where one of the lines say "Save Target As ..."
Choose for simplicity to save on your desktop. This will go lightning fast; it's a very small file.

Check on your desk so that the file is there. Then do like this: put your mouse cursor on the icon of the m3u file and click the right mouse button (once). This opens a menu. There, select "Open With" and then continue down to the "Choose default program" as shown below:

Then you'll end up on the following function (see picture below), where you select Windows Media Player. Before you click the OK button, you should also click a check mark in the "Always use this program to open this file type." After this, the computer will "understand" how to do with the m3u files, and you should now be able to listen to the files on my web. Now you also can throw the m3u file in your waste bin.
